No. 2 Men's Lightweight Rowing Drops Wood-Hammond Cup; Retains Fosburg Cup

PRINCETON – The No. 2 Men's Lightweight Rowing Team retained the Fosburg Cup for the seventh straight year on Lake Carnegie on Saturday morning.

The Penn Quakers' 3V earned the victory to begin the racing with a 5:58.5. The 2V for the Quakers (5:50.0) also won in a race that could not be decided until 90 minutes afterwards when there was available video for review.

Penn also won the Wood-Hammond Cup by three tenths of a second (5:38.3) over Princeton (5:38.6). The Tigers earned the Fosburg Cup as Georgetown crossed the line at 5:50.3.

"We're definitely getting our money's worth with this regular season," said Princeton head coach Marty Crotty. "It's always disappointing to be on the wrong end of such close racing but it's essential to get tested the way we've been every week."

Princeton's heavyweight 5V (6:21.2) took down Penn's 4V lightweight squad (6:28.2)

The Tigers go on the road next Saturday (Apr. 27) to take on Yale and Harvard for the Goldthwait and Vogel Cups.
