No. 44 Women's Tennis Outlasts No. 38 Harvard, 4-3, To Win Fifth-Straight Ivy Title

PRINCETON, N.J. – For the fifth-straight season and the 18th time in program history, the No. 44 Princeton University women's tennis team are the Ivy League Champions after taking down No. 38 Harvard, 4-3, Sunday afternoon in a thrilling battle that went down to the wire.
The Tigers' victory also makes Princeton the Ivy League's automatic qualifier for the NCAA Tournament, securing a fifth-straight and 12th total appearance.
The Tigers got off to a strong start by winning the doubles point. The 90th-ranked duo of Maia Sung and Bella Chhiv took down Kavya Karra and Rachel Arbitman at No. 2, 6-4, then at No. 3 Neha Velaga and Alice Ferlito overcame Natalie Block and Sany Gawande, 6-4.
Singles saw the Tigers go down 3-1 but Velaga was able to outlast Fischer in a three-set thriller, 1-6, 6-3, 6-2, at No. 1 then Madeleine Jessup upended Maxi Duncan 2-6, 6-2, 6-1 at No. 4. The match came down to Ferlito and Kate Him at No. 5 in another three-setter, with Ferlito providing the heroic 6-1, 1-6, 6-4 victory to clinch the match for Princeton.
