Charlottesville Regional To Open For No. 39 Women's Tennis Against No. 26 Washington

PRINCETON, N.J. – The NCAA Tournament will open for the No. 39 Princeton University women's tennis team against No. 26 Washington at 10 a.m. on May 4 at the Virginia Tennis Facility at the Boar's Head Sports Club in Charlottesville, Virginia.
The Ivy League Champion Tigers will be appearing in the NCAA Tournament for the 12th time in school history and the fifth-consecutive season. Jamea Jackson has now guided Princeton to Ivy titles and NCAA Tournament appearances in her first two seasons as Head Coach.
The 16 teams advancing from the second round will participate in two-team super regionals hosted by the higher-seeded teams, set to take place on May 10-11. The eight super regional winners will advance to Oklahoma State's Greenwood Tennis Center in Stillwater, Oklahoma, with the quarterfinals through championship matches being played May 16-19. The NCAA Singles and Doubles will run May 20-25.
The Huskies, who are 17-10 overall and went 5-5 in Pac-12 play, will be appearing in the NCAA Tournament for the third-straight season. Washington currently has two players featured in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) singles rankings, No. 99 Alexia Jacobs and No. 105 Astrid Olson, with Jacobs and Olsen also being ranked No. 48 in doubles. Princeton and Washington are no strangers, having met in the second round of the 2019 NCAA Tournament. That day, the host Huskies prevailed, 4-0.
No. 5 UVA will be making its sixth-straight NCAA Tournament appearance, is 22-4 overall and went 12-1 in Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) play. Virginia features four ranked singles players (No. 24 Hibah Shaikh, No. 69 Annabelle Xu, No. 91 Sara Ziodato, No. 122 Elaine Chervisnky) along with three ranked doubles teams (No. 10 Melodie Collard & Elaine Chervisnky, No. 30 Annabelle Xu & Melodie Collard, No. 45 Natasha Subhash & Hibah Shaikh).
LIU, back-to-back Northeast Conference (NEC) Champion, has an 11-5 record and went 3-1 in NEC play.
