No. 12 Women's Water Polo Earns Two Wins at Bucknell

LEWISBURG – With two victories, the No. 12 Women's Water Polo Team inched closer to the No. 1 seed in the Collegiate Water Polo Tournament.
No. 12 Princeton 12, No. 11 Michigan 9
A close affair in the first quarter, Kaila Carroll put the Tigers ahead of the Wolverines, 4-3, after eight minutes.
Two tallies from Kayla Yelensky and Kate Mallery extended Princeton's advantage to three, 7-4, with under 90 seconds to go in the first half. Head coach Derek Ellingson's crew took an 8-5 advantage into halftime.
After Michigan opened the scoring in the second half, goals from Carroll and Mallery pushed the Tigers' lead to four, 10-6. The Wolverines never got back within three the rest of the way.
Lindsey Lucas recorded 17 saves in the victory and scored a goal while Mallery led the Tigers with a hat trick.

The Tigers started off with five of the first six goals and led 7-3 after the first stanza. Princeton's offense stayed hot pushing its lead to eight, 11-3, before holding a 12-5 halftime lead.
The No. 1 seeded Tigers led by as many as 11 in the second half before settling with a 18-9 victory.
Shanna Davidson had four goals to pace the offense while CJ Weigel had 11 stops in the win.
Princeton wraps up the weekend vs. Bucknell on Sunday at 12 p.m. With a win over the Bison, the Tigers will clinch the No. 1 seed in the CWPA Tournament.
