NEW YORK – The Princeton Baseball Team rallied from a five-run deficit, but ultimately fell to the Cornell Big Red, 9-7, in the opening game of the Ivy League Tournament.

Mark Quatrani opened the scoring for Cornell with a three-run home run in the top of the first inning.

Cornell extended its advantage with four runs in the top of the fourth inning highlighted by a Max Jensen RBI double.

With two out in the bottom of the sixth, Matt Scannell got the Tigers within striking distance with this three-run blast.

After Vinci's four-bagger, Jordan Kelly walked and stole second before Jake Kernodle's double to right center tied the game at 7-all.

Cornell's Luke Johnson's two-run single in the top of ninth proved to be the difference as Princeton could not rally in the bottom of the frame.

Vinci led the team with three hits along with three RBI. Jake Koonin extended his hitting streak to 18 games while Andrew D'Alessio struck out five hitters over 5 1/3 innings of relief work.

Princeton will take on the loser of Columbia and Penn Saturday at 11 a.m
