May 17, 2024 | Men's Rowing - Lightweight
PRINCETON – The No. 3 Princeton Men's Lightweight Rowing Team heads to Lake Quinsigamond for the 2024 Eastern Sprints.
Last year was a banner day for the Tigers at Easterns as they claimed the Jope Cup for the first time since 2010 as the 1V and 2V corralled victories.
For the varsity boat, the win was its first since that 2010 showing, and 17th overall at Sprints. The 2V won its third-ever gold medal at Sprints and first since the 2010 group swept all three eights. It is the 10th medal overall for the 2V at Sprints, joining four silvers and three bronze medals since the event was first contested in 2003.
Head coach Marty Crotty's squad has not won consecutive golds at Easterns since 2009-10. Last time, the Tigers had the 1V and 2V win golds in consecutive years together was 1998-99.
Princeton would go on to win the IRA President's Cup for the first time since 2010 after the 1V and 2V won gold.
The Tigers' only two losses this season have come to Penn and No. 1 Harvard while they have also earned victories over Navy, Columbia, Dartmouth, Cornell, Georgetown and Yale.
