Jonas Juel '22 Completes First Olympics For Norway

Jonas Juel '22 completed his first Olympic experience rowing for Norway, helping the Men's Quad Sculls crew to a second place finish in the 'B' Final and an eighth place finish overall.
In the B Final on July 31, Juel and his teammates were second in a time of 5:51.88, finishing 1.33 seconds behind winner Estonia. Romania was third in a time of 5:54.77, nearly three seconds behind Juel and company.
Juel's Olympics began with heats on July 27. Norway rowed in the first heat and claimed fourth place in a time of 5:50.48. First place in that heat went to the Netherlands -- the team that would go on to win the gold medal in the event.
In the repechage on July 29, Juel and Norway were third in a time of 5:53.18 which was 0.58 seconds behind Switzerland for the second transfer spot to the Olympic Final.
"What an experience for Jonas in his first Olympics," said head coach Greg Hughes. "He made the most of his opportunity and, alongside his countrymen, put together three outstanding races worthy of our sport's grandest stage. We are all proud of him and how he has represented himself and his country at the Olympic level."
