Claire Collins '19 Advances To Olympic Final In Women's Eight

It took an extra race, but Claire Collins '19 is on to the Olympic Final as the United States secured first place in the women's eight repechage in Paris. With that result, Collins in on to the final on August 3 at 4:50 a.m. EST.

There were five teams in the race and four transfer spots available, but Collins and her teammates left no doubt with a finishing time of 6:03.93 which was 0.88 ahead of runner-up Canada, The other two teams to advance to the Olympic Final from the rep were Australia and Italy.

"Claire and her group are taking care of business," said Princeton head coach Lori Dauphiny. "There can be some nerves when you are in a repechage, anything can happen. But her crew are so battle-tested, they handled everything in a world-class manner and made sure they were through to the final. Now, they can focus on leaving it all on the water and relishing in the opportunity that is in front of them in two days. I can't wait to cheer her on."
