Tom George '18 is now a two-time Olympic medalist after taking home silver in the Men's Pair for Great Britain at the 2024 Olympics in Paris.
Already a bronze medalist from the men's eight at the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo, George and teammate Oliver Wynne-Griffith crossed the finish line in a time of 6:24.11 -- 0.45 seconds behind Croatia which secured gold.
It was a late push from the Croatians that took the top spot as George and Wynne-Griffith led for most of the race before the final sprint where Croatia finished off a furious rally that saw them turn a fifth-place standing after the opening 500m into a victory.
"What an Olympics for Tom," said Princeton head coach Greg Hughes. "To become a two-time Olympic medalist is something very special and it has been a joy to watch him compete and represent himself, his family, and his country as well as Princeton Rowing."
George's silver medal is the 90th medal overall for a Princeton Tiger and the 27th silver medal all-time by a Princetonian. George is the fourth Princeton rower to win a pair of Olympic medals and second male rower to do so joining Doug Burden who won silver (1992, Men's 4-) and bronze (1988, Men's Eight) for the United States.
