A two-time All-America who set the school and Ivy League discus record during her Tiger career, Obiageri Amaechi '21 made her Olympic debut on Friday in the women's discus qualification, representing Nigeria.
Amaechi, who won the discus throw at the 2023 African Games, missed out on advancing to the final, with just 12 of the 32 entrants moving on. The final advancing thrower reached 62.63 meters, with Amaechi, who fouled on her first two attempts, reaching 45.45 meters on her third and final attempt.
Princeton's track and field alumni will continue competition on Saturday with pole vaulting brothers Simen '23 and Sondre Guttormsen '23 going for Norway in the qualification event, set to begin at 4:10 a.m. ET.
