PRINCETON, N.J. – The Princeton University women's volleyball team will wrap up non-conference play with the UMBC/Howard Tournament, first facing Howard on Sept. 20 then High Point and UMBC on Sept. 21.

The Tigers face Howard and High Point in Washington, D.C., inside Burr Gymnasium and UMBC inside Chesapeake Employers Insurance Arena in Baltimore, Maryland.

Chaney Named Ivy Player Of The Week
In the Tigers' three matches at the Penn State Invitational, Chaney led the team in kills with 56, digs with 37 and recorded 10 blocks along with five service aces. She averaged 4.31 kills-per-set, 2.85 digs-per-set and 0.77 blocks-per-set. Against St. John's on Sept. 14, Chaney had career and match-highs in kills (25), digs (16) and blocks (seven). Earlier that morning, Chaney also had a double-double against Duke with 19 kills, 15 digs and two service aces. Against the No. 3 Nittany Lions on Sept. 15, she recorded 12 kills, six digs and three service aces.

Villanova Classic All-Tournament Team
Sophomore duo Sydney Bold and Erin McNair were named to the Villanova Classic All-Tournament Team.

Bold recorded 36 digs, 21 assists and three service aces in the Tigers' three matches. She had her first career double-double against Loyola with 18 digs and a career-high 10 assists to go with two service aces. Bold also tallied 11 digs, six assists and one service ace against Villanova. Additionally, she finished with seven digs and five assists against the Monarchs.

McNair totaled 31 kills, 21 digs, three blocks and two service aces. Against the Greyhounds she recorded a career-high 15 kills, five digs, and one block while she tallied 10 digs, eight kills and two service aces against ODU. Against Villanova, McNair had eight kills, six digs and two blocks.

Ava Harrington Block Party
Sophomore Ava Harrington ranks second in the Ivy League and 34th in the nation in blocks-per-set (1.37). Her 26 blocks rank fourth in the Ivy League.

Fulton Stepping Up
Senior Shelby Fulton currently ranks eighth in the conference in hitting percentage (.299). She had a career day against Duke on Sept. 13, recording career-highs in kills (15) and blocks (5).

Head Coach Sabrina King
The Tigers will be led by Sabrina King, who enters her 13th season as head coach. She has guided Princeton to five Ivy League titles, three NCAA Tournament appearances and has been named Ivy Coach of the Year three times. Throughout her tenure as head coach, King has coached four Ivy League Players of the Year and 44 All-Ivy honorees. King is currently sitting on 195 career victories, requiring five more to reach 200. A member of the Class of 2001 at Princeton, she won three Ivy titles as a player, was the 1999 Ivy Player of the Year and was a three-time All-Ivy selection.

Scalamandre Poised For Dominant 2024
Through just two seasons at Princeton, junior Lucia Scalamandre has accumulated an impressive list of accolades. She was named 2023 American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) All-Region Honorable Mention and is a two-time First Team All-Ivy honoree. In 2023, Scalamandre led the Ivy League in hitting percentage (.408) and was ranked fifth in points-per-set (3.45). The 2022 Ivy Rookie of the Year, her 104 blocks from the 2022 season rank No. 4 all-time in school history for most blocks in a season.

The 2023 Ivy Rookie of the Year
Draper was named 2023 Ivy Rookie of the Year and Second-Team All-Ivy League. Her 903 assists led the conference, while she ranked second in the Ivy League and 46th in the nation in assists-per-set (10.26). Draper's 24 service aces also tied the team high.

An Impressive 2023 For Chaney
Chaney will look to build off an impressive 2023 season that saw her named Second Team All-Ivy League. Chaney led the team and ranked second in the Ivy League in points-per-set (3.86), led the team and ranked fourth in the conference in kills-per-set (3.27) and led the team and was 10th in the Ivy League in service aces per set (0.22).

Bold's Defensive Impact
As a freshman in 2023, Bold led the Tigers and ranked second in the Ivy League in digs (375) while also leading the team and ranking fourth in the conference in digs-per-set (4.26).

Ivy League Hitting Percentage Leader
Senior Mariah Haislip has recorded some of the best hitting percentages in the Ivy League over the past two seasons. As a sophomore in 2022 she led the conference (.379), and she ranked fourth in 2023 (.357).

Leadership Council
The Tigers' leadership council for 2024 consists of Haislip, senior Gracie Wood, junior Valerie Nutakor and Draper.

Scouting Howard
Howard is 5-4 on the season, and fell to Delaware, 3-2 (25-18, 25-19, 27-29, 21-25, 15-1) in Newark, Delaware, on Sept. 15 in its most recent match. The Bison were 17-15 in 2023 and 11-3 in Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) play. Howard also played in the National Invitational Volleyball Championship (NIVC) in 2023.

Scouting High Point
The Panthers have a 4-4 record in 2024 and suffered a 3-2 (16-25, 25-17, 25-23, 21-25, 15-12) setback in their most recent match against James Madison on Sept. 14. Prior to facing the Tigers, High Point will take on UMBC on Sept. 20. In 2023, the Panthers were 23-8 overall and a perfect 14-0 in Big South play, advancing to the NCAA Tournament where they faced #10 Tennessee in the first round.

Scouting UMBC
The Retrievers are 0-8 on the season and were defeated by Maryland, 3-0 (25-12, 26-24, 25-16) in their most recent match on Sept. 15 in College Park, Maryland. Before playing Princeton, UMBC takes on High Point on Sept. 20. 2023 saw the Retrievers go 17-8 overall and 8-2 in America East play, winning a fourth-straight America East title and matching up with #8 USC in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament.
