PRINCETON, N.J. – After capturing its first home of the season win last week, the Princeton men's soccer team will travel down to the nation's capital to face the Georgetown Hoyas on Tuesday, September 24. Kickoff is set for 3 p.m. at Shaw Field in Washington, D.C.

About the Tigers

Three Tigers scored in Princeton's last match against Colgate on Tuesday night, handing the Tigers their first home victory, 3-1.
Junior forward Daniel Ittycheria recorded a goal and an assist in the match, marking his third goal in three consecutive games for Princeton and his second assist of the season. For his efforts, Ittycheria earned a nod on the Ivy League Weekly Honor Roll.
Sophomore forward Kevin Kelley also scored his second goal in two games for the Tigers.
Junior forward Will Francis scored his first goal of the season in the contest, after netting four during the 2023 season.
The win over Colgate followed the Tigers' victory at St. John's on September 10th for a record of 2-2 on the season so far.
Ittycheria, the 2023 Ivy League top-scorer, leads the Tigers with three goals and two assists for seven points on the season so far. Kelley is behind him with 5 points off of two goals and an assist.
Princeton is currently ranked ninth in the country in corner kicks per game, averaging 7.00. The Tigers are also 15th nationally in shot accuracy (.519).
Senior captain Khamari Hadaway has been solid in goal for the Tigers, recording 90 minutes in all four matches so far and making ten saves on the season.
The Tigers finished the 2023 season 4-8-3, going 1-4-2 in Ivy league play.
In addition to Hadaway, fellow seniors Issa Mudashiru and Harry Roberts were elected as co-captains to lead the 2024 Tiger side.

About the New Tigers

The Tigers' Class of 2028 was ranked the no. 13 recruiting class by TopDrawerSoccer, including Cyrus Klinenberg (No. 77), Kristian Kelley (No. 82), Roka Tsunehara (No. 113), Dash Papez (No. 116), and Nathan Salerno.
The Tiger newcomers are already making significant contributions to the Orange and Black's success. Papez has recorded three starts and an assist for the Tigers, while Tsunehara has two starts to his credit so far.
Tsunehara was named to the TopDrawerSoccer preseason All-Freshman team on August 20. The Burlingame, Calif., native was the 2022 MLS Next U16 National MVP. He was also a leading scorer for the San Jose Earthquakes U17 team as they reached the semifinals of the MLS Next cup in 2023.
A pair of new Tigers hail from the D.C. United academy system, as Papez and Zhang led their team to win the U16 MLS Next Cup Playoffs while making deep runs in both his U15 and U17 years.
Freshman goalkeeper Salerno comes to Princeton after playing with the Columbus Crew II and helping secure key victories in the MLS Next Pro playoffs.

Head coach Jim Barlow is in his 28th season as the men's soccer head coach and has accumulated 212 career wins with the Tigers, the most for any soccer coach in Princeton history, men's or women's. Barlow was also named the 2021 Ivy League Coach of the Year.

About Georgetown

Georgetown is 3-2-3 on the season so far after entering 2024 ranked no. 16 in the United Soccer Coaches' preseason rankings.
Most recently, the Hoyas defeated Creighton on Friday in their BIG EAST opener, 1-0, with sophomore Matthew Van Horn scoring the lone goal in the contest.
Freshman forward Mitchell Baker has four goals and an assist on the season so far. The Melbourne, Australia native leads the Hoyas with 9 points.
Tenzing Manske has taken the majority of matches between the posts for Georgetown, recording 18 saves on the season across six starts.
Tuesday will be the ninth meeting overall between the two sides, with Princeton holding a 0-7-1 record against the Hoyas.
The last matchup between the Tigers and the Hoyas was a 3-0 Georgetown win at Roberts Stadium during the 2023 season, in which now-junior Zach Zengue, now-senior Joe Buck and Jacob Murrell each recorded a goal. Marlon Tabora also recorded two assists in the match.
