Men’s Tennis Sweeps Denver To Advance To ITA Kickoff Weekend Championship Match

COLUMBUS, OHIO- The Princeton men's tennis team started the ITA Kickoff Weekend with a bang. The Tigers made quick work of the Denver Pioneers with a 4-0 sweep to advance to the championship match against host Ohio State tomorrow afternoon.
"We were really sharp out of the gates today and played a clean doubles point," head coach Billy Pate said. "I felt that set a positive tone for us to play well in singles as we were able to establish leads in five spots. I was especially pleased with how we played in the lower half of the singles lineup. We'll need to be at our best tomorrow as Ohio State is undoubtedly the strongest team in the country at defending their home turf indoors."
Princeton won the doubles point thanks to wins from Paul Inchauspe and Filippos Astreinidis at the No. 1 spot while Landon Ardila and Meecah Bigun came out on top in their doubles match.
Aleksandar Mitric won his singles match in his season debut against Connor Robb Wilcox 6-2, 6-3 to kickstart things for Princeton.
Ellis Short disposed of Samuel Rovai 6-3, 6-3 before Fnu Nidunjianzan clinched the match for the Tigers with a 6-3, 6-4 victory over Raffaello Papajcik. Through the first four matches, this stands as the third match Nidunjianzan has clinched this season.
