January 31, 2025 | Men's Tennis
BLACKSBURG, VA.- The Princeton men's tennis team was back on the road as the Tigers were set to face off against the Georgetown Hoyas and Virginia Tech Hokies.
Princeton had a strong performance in the morning matchup with Georgetown, picking up a 5-2 victory. Fnu Nidunjianzan and Ellis Short along with Matthew Bosancic and Milan Markovits helped clinch the doubles point for the Tigers.
Short, Evan Wen, Aleksandar Mitric and Markovits each picked up singles victories to close out the match with a win. Short and Wen took care of business quickly as they won their matches in straight sets.
The afternoon match versus Virginia Tech ended with a 4-3 final in favor of the Hokies.
Paul Inchauspe and Filippos Astreinidis along with Bosancic and Markovits helped the Tigers to another doubles point victory.
Nidunjianzan won his singles match in straight sets 6-4, 6-4 over Maxime St. Hillaire while Wen won 6-3, 7-6(4) over Eyal Shumilov.
"Really tough match, but credit to Virginia Tech they played very well in fighting back and getting the win," head coach Billy Pate said. "Typically, when winning doubles and five first sets it's a great formula to win the match. Most of that is on us for not finding a way to put the match away, but Virginia Tech was resilient and gritty in their comeback. We'll learn from this and be better starting tomorrow at Liberty."
