Men’s Tennis Ends Weekend Trip With 5-2 Win Over Liberty
February 01, 2025 | Men's Tennis
LYNCHBURG, Va.- The Princeton men's tennis team looked to bounce back after falling to Virginia Tech the day before and did exactly that. The Tigers overcame the doubles loss and picked up five hard-fought wins in singles to get the victory.
"It was a great effort with a quick turnaround from a tough match last night," head coach Billy Pate said. "Liberty is a very good team and we had to work hard to turn the momentum and get the win. We didn't start very well in doubles but we were gritty in the middle of the singles matches to gain control. I'm really proud of how we responded and we'll work to get healthy and ready for a heavy slate of tough matches coming up the next several weeks. We are excited to have our first home matches of the year on Friday with Buffalo and NCST."
Paul Inchauspe started the rally for the Tigers with a 6-1, 6-4 straight set win over Carl Roothman.
Ellis Short and Fnu Nidunjianzan each won their singles matches to put Princeton just one point shy of clinching the match.
Aleksandar Mitric finished things off by battling back after dropping his first set. Mitric then went on to get the tiebreaker to win the second set and force a third before winning 3-6, 7-5, 6-2.
