Women's Soccer Shuts Out Cornell
October 11, 2025 | Women's Soccer
Delivering three big Ivy League standings points as the pursuit of an Ivy League Tournament berth continues, the Princeton women's soccer team was a 2-0 winner over Cornell on Saturday afternoon at Roberts Stadium.
The goals came early and late for the Tigers, and Drew Coomans scored a point on both, sending a ninth-minute cross that Big Red goalkeeper Natalie Medugno punched but Ally Murphy collected, sending it toward goal for Alexandra Barry to finish and give Princeton the 1-0 lead.
Seventy-nine minutes later, Coomans stole the ball near the top of the midfield circle, and let one fly from about 35 yards out, seeing it bounce off the crossbar and down for a 2-0 lead.
Princeton outshot Cornell 12-7 overall and 4-2 on goal, with Sydney Romano, a sophomore getting her first career start, making two first-half saves before handing it to Cecilia Cerone to complete the clean sheet.
With the rest of the Ivy League weekend still to be played, Princeton's three points pulled it into a tie for second with Brown, Harvard and Columbia, with Dartmouth at seven points. Yale and Cornell, each with three points, are in pursuit, as is Penn, with one point. The top four teams will qualify for the Ivy League Tournament with the top team hosting.
Brown is set to host Dartmouth later on Saturday, with a Penn visit to Columbia and Harvard's trip to Yale set for Sunday.
