PRINCETON, N.J.- The final day of the ITA Northeast Regional Championships, three Princeton Tigers represented the four semifinalists in singles.
With their eyes on the prize, Paul Inchauspe and Fnu Nidunjianzan won their semifinals matches to each earn their spot in the NCAA Singles Championship.
"Overall it was a fantastic week for our guys," head coach Billy Pate said. "All eight players we had competing experienced success and clearly it was a great effort to have three of the four players in the singles semifinals. We're very proud of Paul and Top for reaching the final today and clinching their spot in the NCAA singles championships next month in Orlando. It was also a great run by Sebastian to make the semis. It's always tough to play your teammates, but it's also a credit to the success they earned by making a deep run into the tournament. It was great to host regionals this year at our venue. We had a lot of great support from our athletic staff, along with community and visiting spectators - making for a wonderful atmosphere. It's a quick turnaround for four of our guys who will be competing this Friday-Sunday at Penn in the Ivy Fall Championships."
Inchauspe defeated Penn's Manfredi Graziani in straight sets by a score of 6-1, 6-4.
Nidunjianzan punched his ticket with a 6-4, 7-6(1) win over Sebastian Sec.
The NCAA Individual Championships will take place from Nov. 18-23 in Lake Nona, Fla.
