Men's Hockey Closes Out Historic Opening Weekend Sweep, 6-3
November 01, 2025 | Men's Ice Hockey
The sweep is Princeton's first at Hobey Baker Rink to open a season in 70 years – the last time coming in 1955-56 when the Tigers downed Providence on December 9 (7-4) and December 10 (5-2).
Brendan Gorman (2 goals, 1 assist), Kai Daniells (1 goal, 2 assists) and Jaxson Ezman (1 goal, 2 assists) had three-point nights for the Tigers. Jake Manfre had a two-goal night for his second career multi-goal game.
Ezman's career-high three points on Saturday finished off a five-point (3 goals, 2 assists) weekend.
Arthur Smith made 26 saves in the win, not allowing a goal during even-strength play as the Nanooks went 3-for-4 on the power play.
After a scoreless first period, Princeton got on the board midway through the second when Jaxson Ezman connected on his second goal of the weekend.
A spectacular solo effort from Brendan Gorman built sustained pressure for the Tigers in Alaska end, with Gorman eventually funneling a pass to Julian Facchinelli in the high slot. Playing in just his fourth career game, the sophomore backhanded an extra pass to Ezman who was open on the flank to roof one home with 10:09 left to play in the second.

The Nanooks tied the game on the power play with 5:16 remaining in the middle period when Chase Dafoe stuffed home a cross-ice pass from Michael Citara on a 4-on-3 man advantage.E-Z Does It!

Alaska tied the game 1:47 later with a power-play goal of its own when Dafoe gathered a rebound and tucked it by an outstretched Smith to make it a 2-2 game.
Just past the midway mark of the third, Daniells regained a one-goal lead for the Tigers when he collected a cross-ice pass from Kai Greaves and patiently waited before firing top-corner with 9:15 to go.
Â
That lead was again short-lived as the Nanooks tied the game 2:55 later via a Peyton Platter power-play goal. The Nanooks needed just 0:07 of power play time to tie the game, with Platter's shot from the left circle working through a screen and by Smith.Kai To Kai!

The ping-pong affair finally settled in favor of the Tigers who scored twice in 0:10 to lock down the game. First up was Jake Manfre who finished off a 2-on-1 with Daniells with 3:27 to go.
Â
Before the Baker Rink crowd had a chance to settle back in, Ezman beat the Nanook defense to a loose puck behind the Alaska net and he fed a charging Gorman who slammed home his second of the game to give Princeton a 5-3 lead with 3:17 to play. The Man In The Middle!
