November 02, 2025 | Women's Volleyball
PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Princeton University women's volleyball team delivered one of its strongest performances of the season in front of a national TV audience Sunday afternoon inside the Pizzitola Sports Center, earning a 3-1 (27-25, 15-25, 25-23, 25-18) victory over Brown in a contest broadcast live on ESPNU.
The Tigers' win moved Princeton to 7-3 in Ivy League play, one spot behind Cornell who has an 8-2 record in conference matches. Princeton also split the season series with the Bears.
The Bears jumped out to a 12-10 lead in the first set, but a Brown service error led a 4-0 Princeton run that put the Tigers up 14-12. Shortly after, a kill by Shelby Burriss ignited a 5-0 run that gave Princeton a 20-15 advantage, then a Bear service error saw the Tigers take set point at 24-12. Brown was able to rally and tie it at 25-25, but a Nutakor kill followed by a Bear attacking error gave the Tigers the 27-25 triumph in the first set.
The second set began as a back-and-forth battle, but a 5-0 Brown run saw the Bears surge ahead, 14-7. While a kill by Sarah Hom ignited a 4-0 Princeton run that narrowed the deficit to 14-11, the momentum stayed with Brown as it went on to tie the match at 1-1 with a 25-15 win in the second set.
Little separated the Tigers and Bears in the third set. While the Tigers took an early 12-8 advantage, a 3-0 brown run made it a 12-11 contest. A service error by Brown followed by a McNair kill then a double block by Draper and Scalamandre extended Princeton's lead back out to 15-11. The Tigers and Brown battled to a 23-23 stalemate, but back-to-back Scalamandre kills were the difference down the stretch as Princeton would earn the 25-23 triumph in the third set
Brown took a 7-4 lead in the fourth set, but a double block by Jackie Onyechi and Nutakor led a 4-0 run that put the Tigers ahead, 8-7. The Bears would retake the lead at 12-11, but a 6-0 Princeton run put Princeton back in front, 17-12. A kill by Scalamandre gave the Tigers match point at 24-18 before a service ace by Ella Bunde saw Princeton take the fourth set over Brown, 24-18, along with the match, 3-1.
