November 23, 2025 | Women's Basketball
NASSAU – The Princeton Women's Basketball Team used four players in double figures to drop the Maryland Eastern Shore Hawks, 81-62, at the Imperial Arena on Sunday afternoon.
After the Shore Hawks scored the first four points of the game, Princeton ripped off 12 straight and eventually led 17-6 after 10 minutes. During that stretch, Carla Berube's squad allowed just two baskets and forced seven turnovers.
Princeton used an 14-6 run begin the second quarter to go up, 31-12, its largest lead of the first half before settling with a 38-21 lead at halftime.
A 12-4 sprint by Maryland Eastern Shore cut its deficit to 12, 49-37, at the 2:54 mark of the third stanza, but an Ashley Chea three-pointer and two free throws from Sarah Lessig kept the MEAC school at bay.
The Shore Hawks closed the gap to 12, 61-49, with 6:23 left, but two treys from Chea, Skye Belker and an offensive putback from Emily Eadie pushed the Tigers' advantage back to 20, 71-51. Maryland Eastern Shore never threatened the rest of the way.
Chea led the Tigers with 18 points along with five rebounds. Belker was team-best +25, securing 16 points while Madison St. Rose (14) and Olivia Hutcherson (13) were also in double digits.
Princeton got a season-best 20 points from the bench with Toby Nweke leading the way (nine). Lessig made her collegiate debut, corralling four points and six boards in the victory.
Berube's team improves to 5-1 overall while Maryland Eastern Shore drops to 4-4 this season. The Tigers head on the road to take on the Rhode Island Rams on Wednesday. Tip-off is set for 1 p.m.
