Ivy Defensive Award Winner Coomans Leads Women's Soccer's All-Ivy Honorees
November 05, 2025 | Women's Soccer
In recognition of a season that saw Princeton begin to put things together just in time, the Ivy League champion Tigers were rewarded with five athletic All-Ivy League honorees, four of whom are earning All-Ivy honors for the first time after graduation and injuries transformed the team not just from 2024, but from the season opener in August.
Senior Drew Coomans, a forward until this season, moved to the back line and won the honor of the Ivy League Defensive Player of the Year, becoming the first Princetonian to win the honor since the Ivy Player of the Year honor was split into Offensive and Defensive in 2013. Heather Deerin '03, a backliner, was the Ivy League Player of the Year in 2001, the only Tiger defender to win that award. It's the 14th time a Princeton player has won an Ivy League Player of the Year honor and the second straight year a Princeton player has done so, with Pietra Tordin, now with the NWSL's Portland Thorns, as the 2024 Ivy League Offensive Player of the Year.
Rookie forward Alexandra Barry joined Coomans on the Ivy League first team, while seniors Pia Beaulieu and Kelsee Wozniak and sophomore Dylan Jovanovic were second-team honorees and junior Kayla Wong earned Princeton's spot on the Academic All-Ivy League team.
Princeton, which has won five games in a row including four straight in the league to turn a 1-2 Ivy start into a 5-2 league record to become the first team in league history to win the Ivy with two league losses, will play for the Ivy League Tournament title and the Ivy's automatic bid to the NCAA tournament beginning with Thursday's semifinal against Brown.

Coomans, a senior, moved to the back line this year after playing forward until this season and has started all 15 games, scoring a goal and adding four assists while playing a career-high 1,227 minutes so far, the second-most on the team. Alexandra Barry
First-Team All-Ivy League
Barry, a sophomore forward, scored both goals in Princeton's Ivy title-clinching win over Brown last weekend, propelling her to the team lead with five goals on the way to a team-high 13. Barry also led the team in league games with three goals and eight points.
Pia Beaulieu
Second-Team All-Ivy League
Beaulieu, a senior midfielder, returned from injury after missing the first four games of the season. Beaulieu has a goal and an assist in 11 games with nine starts this season, including starting all seven games.
Dylan Jovanovic
Second-Team All-Ivy League
Jovanovic, a sophomore forward, stands second on the team in points, with nine on two goals and five assists. Five of the points (one goal, three assists) came during the Ivy season.
Kelsee Wozniak

Kayla Wong
Academic All-Ivy League
Wong, a junior midfielder, has started all 15 games on the season and is close to eclipsing her career-high minutes total from last season, playing 1,176 this year after 1,209 last year. Wong was a 2024 College Sports Communicators Academic All-District honoree, an award still to be announced for 2025.
