Women's Basketball Puts On A Show On Education Day In 87-77 Win Over Temple

PRINCETON - Behind an impressive offensive performance, the Princeton Women's Basketball Team dropped the Temple Owls, 87-77, at Jadwin Gym on Monday morning.
The Tigers shot 30-of-60 (50 percent) in the game, knocking down nine triples while going 18-of-20 (90.0 percent) from the charity stripe.
Madison St. Rose led the home squad with 22 points while Skye Belker dropped in 19. Toby Nweke had a career-high 15 points off the bench in the victory.
After Temple began the game with the first five points, Princeton ripped off 12 straight. Trailing by 11, the Owls had an 8-0 run to cut the gap to three, 20-17, but the Tigers kept them at bay and led 26-20 after 10 minutes.
Princeton used a 10-3 push to end the second quarter to push its advantage to 14 at the break, 42-28. To finish the third stanza, the Tigers had a 13-4 dash to go up 22, 67-45. Head coach Carla Berube's team shot 11-of-19 (57.9 percent) in that quarter.
Two free throws from Emily Eadie gave the home unit its largest lead of the game, 78-52, with 5:51 remaining. Temple got within nine but couldn't not close the margin before Princeton earned the 10-point decision.
Princeton improves to 12-1 overall while Temple dropped to 6-6 this season. The Tigers have won 10 consecutive games which is the fifth time they reached that milestone in the Berube era. Princeton begins Ivy action at Penn on Jan. 3. Tip-off is set for 2 p.m.
