Men’s Basketball Ends 2025 With 75-69 Overtime Victory Against Vermont

PRINCETON, N.J. – Four double figure scorers pushed the Princeton University men's basketball team past Vermont, 75-69, inside Jadwin Gymnasium Tuesday afternoon in a contest that went to overtime in the Tigers' final game of 2025 and final non-conference game of 2025-26.
Princeton, who faced the Catamounts on Nov. 26 in Kissimmee, Florida, at the Terry's Chocolate ESPN Events Invitational, improved to 2-1 all-time against Vermont.
The first half began as a back-and-forth battle; with the Catamounts up 11-10, an Abdullahi layup followed by a Hicke three-pointer gave the Tigers a 15-11 advantage with 14:06 left in the half. A junior Jacob Huggins three-pointer kept Princeton up three, 18-15, with 11:37 on the clock.
Vermont battled back to take a 23-20 lead at 9:14, but three consecutive three-pointers by Stanton saw the Tigers surge ahead, 29-25, with 5:02 remaining in the half. Hicke connected on a three-pointer at 0:49 and Princeton took a 36-29 advantage into halftime.
The Tigers started the second half hot, with two consecutive three-pointers by Clark giving Princeton a nine-point lead with 17:03 left to play, 44-35. A freshman Sebastian Whitfield three-pointer extended Princeton's lead to 12 with 12:03 on the clock, 55-43.
The Catamounts fought back, using a 9-0 run to make it a three-point game, 55-52, with 8:05 remaining. A powerful alley-oop by Abdullahi and a three-pointer by Hicke helped keep Princeton in front, 60-54, at 6:02. Vermont was able to make it a one-point contest, 62-61, with 1:46 left to play; the Tigers and Catamounts would play to 63-63 stalemate to end regulation, sending the game to overtime.
Ignited by an Abdullahi layup, Princeton opened overtime with an 8-0 run, surging ahead, 71-63, with 1:24 left to play. Stanton and Abdullahi were perfect from the free throw line down the stretch, ensuring the Tigers earned the victory with a final core of 75-69.

Sophomore Jack Stanton led the Tigers with a team and career-high 19 points and made five three-pointers for the second time this season. Stanton also tied the game-high and his career-high in assists with five. Junior Jackson Hicke added 17 points and went a perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line, who also tallying six rebounds, five assists, which tied the game-high, and two steals. Sophomore Malik Abdullahi shot a perfect 5-for-5 from the field and went 5-for-6 from the free throw line to finish with 15 points while also contributing five rebounds along with a game and career-high three steals. Freshman Landon Clark rounded out Princeton's double figure scorers, finishing with a career-high 12 points on 5-for-9 shooting.
