Hutcherson's Big Second Half Pushes Women's Basketball Over Belmont, 70-58
December 06, 2025 | Women's Basketball
NASHVILLE – Olivia Hutcherson recorded a second half double-double to help the Princeton Women's Basketball Team defeat the Belmont Bruins, 70-58, at the Cure Event Center on Saturday afternoon.
A three-pointer from Ashley Chea gave Princeton a 15-8 lead after 10 minutes of action.
In front by six, the Tigers eventually doubled up their advantage after a trey from Toby Nweke made it 28-16 with 6:06 to go in the first half. Belmont cut its deficit to five, 36-31, at the break.
Hutcherson had no points and one rebound in the first 20 minutes of play.
That changed quite a bit in the second half.
After a bucket from Madison St. Rose, the junior ran off six straight points, stretching the Tigers' lead to 13, 44-31, forcing a Belmont timeout.
Princeton led by as many as 15 but led 53-45 after three quarters.
Belmont closed the gap to three on two possessions early in the fourth stanza, but Hutcherson had an answer each time with a basket and two free throws.
Her last make came on an offensive rebound to put the Tigers up 10, 64-54, with 5:33 remaining.
Belmont never got closer than nine the rest of the way. Princeton allowed just one bucket over the final 6:45 of the game.
Hutcherson matched her personal best with 19 points and set a new career high with 11 rebounds to pace the Tigers. St. Rose (15) and Fadima Tall (14) each scored in double figures in the victory. Tall recorded a double-double, contributing 11 rebounds.
Princeton has won seven straight games and is now 9-1 overall. Belmont falls to 4-5 this season. Head coach Carla Berube's team welcomes Rutgers to Jadwin Gym on Wednesday. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m.
