February 18, 2025 | Women's Track and Field
PRINCETON, N.J. – After breaking her own school record in the mile, Mena Scatchard was named the Ivy League Athlete of the Week, the league announced on Tuesday.
On Friday, Scatchard set a new program record in the mile at the BC Eagle Elite Invitational in Boston, running an impressive time of 4:28.43. Her time currently ranks 15th on the NCAA qualifying list, and it marked a four second improvement on her personal best time.
Scatchard's performance broke her own previous school record of 4:32.95, set just weeks ago at the Dr. Sander Scorcher on January 25. Before then, Maggie Liebich '24 held the record at 4:36.53, set at last year's BU Valentine Invite.
The award is Scatchard's first weekly honors of the season and her career.
Just this season, Scatchard has set new records in the mile, the 800m, and the DMR.
The two-time Ivy League champion now holds six records in the Princeton all-time record book, including the mile, the 800m, the 3000m and the 1500m. She is part of the relay squads that hold the school records in both the DMR and the 4x800.
Looking ahead to the postseason, Scatchard and the Tigers will take the track again this Friday, February 21st with the Philadelphia Metro Meet and the BU DMR Challenge.
