Men's Hockey Stunned By Brown In Overtime, 3-2
February 21, 2025 | Men's Ice Hockey
A crucial ECAC and Ivy League game between Princeton and Brown needed extra hockey to determine a winner, and it was Ryan St. Louis who netted the game-winner for the Bears in the first minute of overtime to secure a 3-2 Brown win at Hobey Baker Rink.
Brendan Gorman had a goal and an assist, factoring in on both Princeton goals. Noah de la Durantaye had the other goal.
The Tigers were 1-for-4 on the power play, and killed all three Brown power plays.
Neither team scored in the first period as both sides struggled to convert on their powerplay opportunities. The Tigers were 0-for-2, while Brown was 0-for-1 on man advantages in a tightly-played first frame.
Princeton got on the board first 4:08 into the second period via Brendan Gorman's 11th goal of the season. He snuck free alone in the slot and Alex Konovalov slipped a pass through a defender to give Gorman some breathing room and he beat Zacher to the glove side and inside the right post.
Noah de la Durantaye ignited the Baker Rink crowd with his fourth goal of the season, a power-play goal 5:42 into the second period. After his co-captains Brendan Gorman and David Jacobs broke the puck into the Brown zone, de la Durantaye stepped back on a defender and uncorked a perfectly-placed shot over Zacher's right shoulder and under the crossbar to give the Tigers a 2-1 lead.
Ivan Zadvernyuk tied the game at 2-2 with a goal from in tight with 3:07 to play. Tanner Hartman gained control of the puck with a forecheck down low, and fed Zadvernyuk in the low slot for a quick release that eluded Pearson and tied the game.
The Tigers never had possession in overtime as Brown won the opening faceoff and then a second one after a quick offsides. Eventually, a sustained cycle and a well-timed pick play from the Bears led to St. Louis flashing open in the middle of the ice for a shot that snuck through the five-hole and in for the game winner.
The Tigers conclude their home regular season slate on February 22, hosting Yale at 7 p.m. for Senior Night.
