Women's Basketball Drops Close One To Columbia, 64-60

PRINCETON – The Princeton Women's Basketball Team dropped a heartbreaker, 64-60, to the Columbia Lions at Jadwin Gym on Saturday evening.
In front by two, Columbia's Kitty Henderson hit a three-pointer with 18 seconds to go to put the game away. After two free throws by Ashley Chea, the Lions' Riley Weiss hit four from the charity stripe to secure the victory.
The road squad started off hot, recording 10 of the first 12 points, forcing a Princeton timeout. Head coach Carla Berube's squad rallied and trailed by just two, 15-13, after 10 minutes.
Tied at 17-all, the Lions ripped off 10 of the next 15 to hold a 27-22 lead with 2:44 to go in the first half before settling with a 27-24 halftime lead.
Once again, even at 33 just under the halfway mark of the third quarter, Princeton finished the frame with an 11-5 push to go up, 44-38.
Fadima Tall led the Tigers with 17 points on 7-of-10 shooting, adding three rebounds. Chea registered 16 points, collecting four dimes and four rebounds.
Weiss led all scorers with 34 points in the win.
Princeton falls to 18-6 overall and 9-2 in the Ivy League while Columbia is 19-5 this season and 10-1 in conference action.
The Tigers head on the road to take on Harvard and Dartmouth next weekend.
