Dora Dishes Out School-Record Seven Assists In Women's Lacrosse Thriller At Delaware
February 26, 2025 | Women's Lacrosse
Haven Dora had a day like none other in the history of Princeton women's lacrosse, dishing out seven assists to set a new school record for assists in a game – surpassing the previous record of six which had been reached five previous times, including most recently by Dora against Dartmouth on April 20, 2024.
Princeton needed all of those helpers – and then some – to stave off a furious Delaware rally and escape Raymond Field at Delaware Stadium with a 15-14 win.
At one point, Princeton led, 6-0, and the score after one quarter of play was 7-1 in favor of the Tigers. Even after a spurt from the Blue Hens to close the second quarter and open the third, Princeton held an 11-7 lead with just under 12:00 to play in the third quarter and was seemingly in control.
The Blue Hens had other ideas, scoring seven of the game's next nine goals to take a 14-13 lead with 1:58 to play via a Delaney McDaniel goal just after a Delaware extra-woman opportunity had expired.
The ensuing draw control was huge, and first-year Maggie Bacigalupo stepped up to corral the ball and give the Tigers the next possession and a chance to tie. After some quick ball movement, McKenzie Blake found herself with some space at the top of the arc and she dodged to her left and fired to the far post to tie the game at 14-14 with 1:18 to play.
Blake won the next draw for the Tigers and after a quick shot from Grace Mulham sailed wide, Jami MacDonald worked her way out from behind the cage, turned and fired home her fourth goal of the game – and first since scoring the game's first three goals in the first quarter – to give the Tigers a 15-14 lead with 0:10 to play.
One final draw control win from Blake later, Princeton had the win and improved to 2-1 on the young season.
Blake's six goals in the game tie her career high and give her 16 goals through three games this season – an average of 5.3 goals-per-game.
Dora's seven assists improve her point total for the season to 18 – an average of 6.0 points-per-game. She now has 14 assists this season – averaging 4.7 assists-per-game.
Abigail Roberts had eight draw control wins for the Tigers, adding a pair of caused turnovers.

How It Happened
- Amelia Hughes made a big stop on the first possession, sending the Tigers down the field where Jami MacDonald scored off a Haven Dora feed 13:36 in. Just 18 seconds later, the two connected again for a second goal and a quick 2-0 lead.
- Dora ended up on a personal run of assisting on Princeton's first five goals before MacDonald got in on the assist game with a helper on Princeton's sixth goal off the stick of Sophie Whiteway with 4:10 to play in the first quarter to make the score 6-0.
- Delaware finally got on the board after 11:24 of play via a Sam Paradise goal.
- The Tigers took a 7-1 lead into the second quarter, but the Blue Hens counterpunched a bit in the second frame with a 5-2 run with goals from four different scorers to cut Princeton's lead to 9-6 after the first half.
- After the Hens scored 0:11 into the second half, Princeton countered with a Maggie Molnar goal 0:45 into the third quarter with an assist from Dora.
- Haven Dora would then set the school record for assists in a game with her seventh – a helper on McKenzie Blake's fifth goal of the game 3:01 into the third quarter.
- Delaware then went on another run, scoring five of the next six goals to bring the game even after a free position goal from Riley Sturtevant with 9:00 to play in the fourth quarter.
- The Blue Hens appeared to have taken a 13-12 lead with just over 7:00 to play, but a Morgan Gore goal was cancelled out because she had stepped in the crease. Princeton would then go back down the field and take a confirmed 13-12 lead with 6:50 to play when Colette Quinn took a Blake pass and scored.
- Less than a minute later, Halen Soroney scored a free position goal for the Blue Hens to again bring the game even, this time at 13-13.
- Delaware took its first lead of the game with 1:58 to play when Delaney McDaniel scored her fourth goal of the afternoon, this time off an assist from Jaclyn Marszal.
- Tigers won the ensuing draw via a Maggie Bacigalupo win, and the ball found its way to Blake who charged to goal and scored with 1:18 to play to tie the game at 14-14.
- The game winner came with 10 seconds to play as Jami MacDonald weaved out from behind the cage and fired home her fourth goal of the day.
