No. 26 Men’s Tennis Drops Match To No. 45 Arizona State
March 15, 2025 | Men's Tennis
INDIAN WELLS, Calif.- The Princeton men's tennis team faced the Arizona State Sun Devils in the semifinal match of the UTR Sports Collegiate Championships on Saturday afternoon.
The Tigers started off picking up the doubles point with victories from Paul Inchauspe and Filippos Astreinidis on court one and Landon Ardila and Aleksandar Mitric on court three.
Landon Ardila earned the lone win in singles for Princeton with a 6-4, 6-4 victory.
"It was a disappointing result today after we played a great doubles point and built a lot of momentum in singles while getting to a 2-0 lead," head coach Billy Pate said. "We had our opportunities to put ASU away, but they deserve a lot of credit for hanging around and finding the deciding point. As it's been the case in practically all of our losses this year, we had momentum changing points on our racquet. We felt we were in a good place with Ellis at No. 4 as he was up a set and 4-1 in the 2nd set when the match was clinched. We simply need to be better in those pivotal moments and I'm confident that we will going forward. We'll face a very good Pepperdine squad tomorrow and it's another chance to get right back on the court and prove ourselves."
