Men's Basketball Falls Short At Cornell

PRINCETON, N.J. – The Princeton University men's basketball team fell short against Cornell inside Newman Arena Sunday afternoon, 102-70.
Junior Xaivian Lee led the Tigers in scoring with 14 points and assists with five, while junior Caden Pierce added 12 points on 5-for-10 shooting. Freshman Peyton Seals and sophomore Dalen Davis each scored nine points, with Seals shooting 4-for-5 and Davis 4-for-8.
The Big Red opened the game with a 10-0 run and had all the momentum early. A pair of free throws followed by a freshman CJ Happy three-pointer helped Princeton build some momentum of its own, and made it 18-7, with 12:40 left in the half. Back-to-back three-pointers by Pierce and Lee narrowed the deficit to single figures at 9:11, 25-16, but Cornell would pull away and take a 48-32 advantage with 1:25 remaining in the half. Princeton closed the half out with a Pierce layup then a three-pointer by senior Blake Peters that beat the buzzer, but Cornell took a 48-37 lead into halftime.
Cornell opened the second half with a 7-0 run, jumping ahead 55-37 with 17:53 remaining. The Big Red then used a 9-0 run increase its advantage to 64-39 at 14:53. Lee completed a four-point play with 14:39 remaining then Davis finished a layup with 13:24 remaining to make it 64-45, but the Tigers could not slow down the Big Red for the remainder of the contest as Cornell pulled away for the 102-70 win.
