No. 9 Women's Lacrosse Runs Win Streak To Eight With 13-11 Win At No. 12 Yale
March 29, 2025 | Women's Lacrosse
The Tigers are still rolling!
No. 9 Princeton (8-1, 2-0 Ivy) went to New Haven and knocked off No. 12 Yale (7-3, 1-2 Ivy), 13-11, to run its winning streak to eight games – its longest since the 2019 team won 11 in a row.
A back-and-forth contest befitting two of the Ivy League's top teams was in the balance until late in the fourth quarter before the Tigers broke open a 10-10 game with three goals in a row.
Haven Dora had an eight-point game for the Tigers to match her career high. She scored four times to establish a new personal best and also added four assists.
Sophie Whiteway had a game-high eight draw controls, combining with Abigail Roberts (5 DCs) to help Princeton to a 17-11 edge at the draw circle.
In goal, Amelia Hughes was stellar in her home state as the CT-native made nine saves – including three in the third quarter while allowing just two goals as her team staked itself to a three-goal lead.
The Tigers did not lead by more than one goal until McKenzie Blake scored with 7:31 to play in the third quarter, and led by three at 10-7 after three quarters.
Still, Princeton found itself in a battle following three consecutive Yale goals to start the final period brought the game even at 10-10 with 7:23 left.
Maggie Molnar calmly ended that Yale run with a free position goal with 6:25 to play, and then Blake scored the dagger when she fired home a man-up goal just before the shot clock expired with 2:09 to play.
