Olivia Duan put together the finest weekend of her young collegiate career, picking up her first collegiate win with a three-shot victory at the River Landing Classic.
It was a first-year Tiger and a fourth-year Tiger in a battle down the stretch as Duan, a rookie, started the day even with senior Victoria Liu and outdueled her veteran teammate as both had stretches of fantastic golf.
The individual medalist honor for Duan is the fourth this season for a Princeton women's golfer in six events played. She joins Catherine Rao (Nittany Lion Invitational, Columbia Classic) and Victoria Liu (Princeton Invitational) as Tigers to win tournaments this year.
The three different Tigers to win a tournament this season sets a new school record for most winners in a season, surpassing the previous best of two winners which had happened eight time sprevious to the 2024-25 season. The fours total wins is now tied for fourth-most in a season by a Tigers team.
Duan and Liu shared the 36-hole lead at -3 after the first two rounds on Monday. In the final round, Duan gave a shot back early with a bogey on 3, but answered quickly with a birdie on the next hole to get back to three-under. She then added a second birdie on 7 and made the turn at -4 before adding three more birdies on her way in for a final round of 68 (-4). She finished the tournament with 11 total birdies and had only two bogeys over her final 50 holes of play.
Liu's final round saw her struggle out of the gate with three bogeys on her first nine holes, but four birdies in a row on holes 12, 13, 14 and 15 moved her to -5 for the tournament and within striking distance of Duan with four holes to play. Eventually, Liu would finish at -1 for the third round and -4 overall to post a second-place result and finish two strokes ahead of UNC-Wilmington's Hannah Altman who was third.
Host UNCW was the team champion with a team score of +14 () three strokes ahead of Princeton and Eastern Michigan who tied for second. The Tigers had a hill to climb after the first round, but were -3 as a team in the second round and had the best team round on the course in the final round.
