No. 8 Heavyweight Rowing Aims To Win Third Straight Compton Cup

PRINCETON, N.J. – The No. 8 Princeton University heavyweight rowing team will aim to capture a third consecutive Compton Cup against No. 4 Harvard at Lake Carnegie on Apr. 19.
Last Time Out
Princeton retained the Childs Cup for the 13th consecutive season over the No. 10 University of Pennsylvania and No. 16 Columbia at Overpeck Park on Apr. 12. The Tigers' 1V (6:11.2) secured the Childs Cup by finishing ahead of the Quakers (6:11.2) and Lions (6:32.5). Princeton's 2V (6:24.4) was a close second to Penn (6:23.1) and finished ahead of Columbia (6:55.3) while the 3V (6:23.0) crossed the finish line before the Quakers (6:30.7). The Tigers' 4V (6:23.0) also earned the victory over Penn (6:30.7), and the 5V (6:48.0) fell just short of the Quakers (6:45.6).
Compton Cup History
The Karl Taylor Compton Cup was started in 1933 between the heavyweight crews of Princeton, Harvard and MIT as a gift of the student body of MIT. Since 2017, MIT has not raced for the Compton Cup and it has been competed for by the Tigers and Crimson. While Harvard leads the all-time series with 66 wins to 18 by Princeton, the Tigers have captured the past two Compton Cups.
