PRINCETON, N.J.- The Princeton baseball team faced the Brown Bears in the rubber match of the weekend series on Sunday afternoon. The Tigers were able to tie the game to force extra innings, but were unable to finish things off as they fell to the Bears 12-8.
Princeton got on the board quickly in the bottom of the first on an RBI single from Jake Kernodle.
The Bears tied things up at 1-1 in the third but the Tigers reclaimed a lead in the fourth on a sac-fly from Jordan Kelly and an RBI base knock courtesy of Kevin Blowers.
After going down by one, Kernodle again came through with an RBI single and Jake Bold crossed home on a wild pitch.
Brown scored five runs in the eighth to take an 8-5 lead.
Looking to rally in the bottom of the ninth, the Tigers got going with back-to-back walks. Blowers brought in two runs on a timely single through the right side. With Princeton down to their last out, Grant Werdesheim came up and knocked the game-tying hit to score Kelly from third and set the score to 8-8.
The Bears were able to force the final out to send the game to the tenth where they closed out the game with four runs for a score of 12-8.
