Scoring
Catherine Rao's Augusta National Women's Amateur concluded with a +6 (78) in the second round at Champions Retreat Golf Club. The junior ran into trouble on holes 4-6, and missed the cut in her first entry into the world's toughest test of women's amateur golf.
Rao started the day at -2, and would finish at +4 overall and in a tie for 50th place.
Starting on the back nine, she parred her first three holes before a tee shot off a tree on 13 led to a double bogey to drop her to even-par for the tournament.
She settled back in, narrowly missing birdie putts on 14 and 15 before draining a long birdie on 16 to get back to -1 for the tournament as she made the turn.
Rao bogeyed No. 2, but responded with a birdie on the next hole as she dropped a sliding downhill putt on No. 3 to once again get back to -1 overall.
A bogey on No. 4 dropped Rao under the cut line, and an unfortunate plugged lie in a bunker of No. 5 led to a double bogey to fall to +2.
Needing to make up ground with four holes to play, Rao was aggressive on the tee shot of the par-3 sixth hole and came up short in a bunker which led to a double bogey to drop to +4.
Rao worked three pars on the way in to close her round.
Rao will head to Augusta National Golf Club for a round alongside her fellow competitors on Friday to conclude her ANWA experience for 2025 before turning her attention to the rest of the regular season and Ivy League Championships with the Tigers.
