PRINCETON, N.J. – With NCAA Regionals on the horizon and a new Outdoor Ivy Championship to its name, the Princeton women's track and field team will return to Weaver Stadium for one last home meet as they host the Princeton Elite on Saturday.
Last weekend in New Haven, the Tigers captured their 10th Outdoor Heps title all-time to complete a historic third Triple Crown.
With a score of 202.5, the most points ever scored by a women's team at outdoor Heps, Princeton clinched the title while boasting six individual championships and one relay win in the 4x800m.
Georgina Scoot won the long jump and the triple jump, while Shea Greene claimed the javelin title and Siniru Iheoma won the shot put. Mena Scatchard won the 1500m, and Julia Jongejeugd won the heptathlon. The Tiger squad of Stella Vieth, Hannah Riggins, Olivia Martin and Scatchard captured the 4x800m title.
For her performance, which included setting two new meet records, Scoot was named the Ivy League Most Outstanding Field Performer of the Meet. She was also named the USTFCCCA National Athlete of the Week on Monday.
Head Coach Michelle Eisenreich and the Princeton coaching staff were unanimously selected as Ivy League Outdoor Coach of the Year.
In addition to the individual champions who were all named to the First Team All-Ivy, the Tigers had eight Second Team All-Ivy selections as they earned Ivy runner-up status.
Last year, Princeton sent 11 to the NCAA Regionals with five advancing to the national championships in Eugene.
With the regular season and Heptagonal championships done, Princeton is currently set to send 19 Tigers to the NCAA East First Round in Jacksonville, while several others will aim to qualify this weekend.
