No. 5 Heavyweight Rowing Finishes Fourth At IRAs

CAMDEN, N.J. – The No. 5 Princeton University heavyweight rowing team finished fourth at the Intercollegiate Rowing Association (IRA) National Championship Sunday at the Cooper River. The 1V and 3V raced in their respective Grand Finals.
In the team point standings for the Ten Eyck Trophy, the Tigers finished fifth with 237 points, five points ahead of No. 11 Syracuse who was sixth with 232. Princeton was just one point short of No. 8 Brown (238), while No. 2 Washington (285), No. 3 Harvard (279) and No. 1 California (244) were the top three finishers.
The 1V finished fourth (5:32.200) in its Grand Final, narrowly missing out on a medal as very little separated the top four boats. Dartmouth (5:30.900) won bronze, Harvard (5:30.750) silver and Washington (5:29.780) gold in a highly competitive race that went down to the wire.
The 3V, who also made its Grand Final, took fifth (5:42.070) behind Yale (5:40.790), California (5:33.550), Washington (5:29.090) and Harvard (5:29.060).
Racing in the Petite Final, the 2V earned a first-place finish (5:34.520). Princeton finished ahead of Stanford (5:34.850), Northeastern (5:35.000), Dartmouth (5:38.390), the University of Pennsylvania (5:38.590) and Boston University (5:47.250).
