Yeager And Harris (USA), Wong (Canada) To Compete In Pan Am Cup In Uruguay

The seventh Pan American Cup field hockey tournament kicks off Thursday in Montevideo, Uruguay, where Princeton field hockey will be well represented.
Princeton alum Elise Wong, Class of 2019, is the captain of the Canadian team, who will be competing in Pool A along with Argentina, Uruguay and Paraguay. Beth Yeager, who will be a senior this coming year, will again be a mainstay for the United States team, whose matches in Pool B will be against Trinidad & Tobago, Chile and Mexico.
The Pan Am Cup, a qualifier for the 2026 World Cup, runs through Aug. 3. Argentina has won all six of the previous Cups, including in 2022 in Chile, where Wong and Canada defeated Yeager and the Americans in the third-place game.
Canada has the honor of playing the first game of the tournament, against Paraguay, Thursday at 11:30 am local time (10:30 am Eastern Time). The Canadians will then play Argentina Saturday and the host Uruguayans Monday.
The U.S. schedule begins Friday against Mexico (6:30 pm in Uruguay) and continues with Chile Sunday and Trinidad & Tobago Tuesday. The knockout round begins July 31.
Tiger Field Hockey will also be represented on the United States men's team by assistant coach Pat Harris. The American men are in Pool A along with Brazil, Argentina and Uruguay, while Pool B has Canada, Chile, Mexico and Trinidad & Tobago.
All tournament games will be streamed on watchhockey.com for a $29.99 subscription fee.
