The second stop of the Princeton men's tennis team's 10-day Western swing has the Tigers in Seattle. Once again, the opponent is an NCAA tournament team from a year ago.
Fresh off a 5-2 dual match opening-win at Boise State Saturday, Princeton will now take on Washington, with a 5 pm Pacific start time. Washington comes into the match off to a 2-0 start, with wins at Hawaii and home against Belmont both by 6-1 counts.
Washington went 17-9 last year and 8-5 in the Big Ten. The team earned an at-large bid to the NCAA tournament, falling 4-0 to Harvard in the first round.
The Huskies led the all-time series 3-2, with the most recent meeting in Seattle in 2018. Princeton won matches against Washington in 1985 and 1991 and lost in 1997 and 2007, with all four of those matches at neutral sites in Southern California.
The matchup at No. 1 singles figures to be between top 100 ranked players, with Princeton's Paul Inchauspe (No. 11) and Washington's Soham Purohit (No. 89). Princeton has two nationall ranked doubles teams — Inchauspe and Landon Ardila (No. 13) and Meecah Bigun and Sebastian Sec (No. 45).
Princeton will head to San Diego for the final destination on its 10-day trip. The Tigers will compete at the University of San Diego in the ITA Kickoff Weekend, beginning Friday morning against Miami.
