Cashman, Lindsey Sweep Ivy Awards; Tiger RPI Up To No. 5
October 12, 2026 | Field Hockey
Pru Lindsey and Ella Cashman swept the Ivy League field hockey Player of the Week honors after Princeton's sweep of Dartmouth and then-No. 1 Northwestern.Â
Lindsey had one goal and one assist in each game, as Princeton defeated the Big Green 4-0 and the Wildcats 2-1 in overtime. Lindsey, the league's Offensive Player of the Week, tied the game against Northwestern by converting a penalty stroke with 1:13 to play in regulation and then set up the game-winner in OT with a reverse cross that Cashman knocked into the back of the cage. Cashman, the league's Defensive Player of the Week, was part of the unit that held Dartmouth without a shot Friday and, as importantly as her winning goal, was part of a defensive penalty corner unit that allowed Northwestern only one goal on 14 penalty corner attempts Sunday.Â
Â
The Tigers are now 8-4 on the year and unbeaten in games that have not gone to shootouts. The four losses are all in those shootouts, with losses to teams ranked No. 1, No. 3, No. 4 and No. 15. Princeton is also 3-1 in the Ivy League with a trip to Cornell for a Friday game that begins at 5.Â

The win over Northwestern, who defeated Princeton 2-1 in overtime in last year's NCAA Championship Game, vaulted Princeton's RPI to No. 5 as of Monday morning. Princeton snapped a 23-game Northwestern winning streak that dated back to a Tiger win in Evanston in last year's regular season. Beyond that, Northwestern is now 35-0 against the rest of the country and 1-2 against Princeton in its last 38 games.Â
