No. 14 Women's Lacrosse Runs By Rutgers, 15-9
February 25, 2026 | Women's Lacrosse
Four days ago, Princeton watched its opponent dial up a huge second-quarter run to break open a close game in a season-opening loss at Loyola.
Consider the lessons learned.
In its home opener for 2026, No. 14 Princeton (1-1, 0-0 Ivy) turned a 2-1 lead into a comfortable 8-1 advantage with a dominant 19:51 of play as a 6-0 run all but salted away a 15-9 win at Sherrerd Field.
The Scarlet Knights got no closer than five the rest of the way, stymied by Amelia Hughes any time they were thinking comeback. Hughes finished with 12 saves, making eight in the first half and another three in the fourth quarter.
Meg Morrisroe had five goals for the second game in a row to lead the Tigers, while Maggie Molnar had her second career hat trick. Colette Quinn (2g, 1a) and Haven Dora (1g, 2a) also had three-point nights. Maggie Bacigalupo pitched in a career high two goals
Juliana Williams had two caused turnovers and two ground balls, while Abigail Roberts had a three ground ball game.

How It Happened
- Goals from Meg Morrisroe and Colettw Quinn in the first half of the opening quarter gave the Tigers a 2-0 lead 7:50 in as the offenses were slow to find their footing.
- Rutgers scored 8:26 into the first quarter to get on the board, but that was the last goal the Scarlet Knights would score over a nearly 20-minute span.
- Five different Tigers scored before Rutgers found the back of the net again, Morrisroe netting two and others coming via Kate Dente's first collegiate goal and markers from Quinn, Bacigalupo and Maggie Molnar.
- By the time Payton Tini and Kate Theofled scored for Rutgers late in the second quater, those goal merely cut Princeton's lead to five and that momentum for Rutgers was halted by a Jami MacDonald free position goal with 0.4 to play in the first half.
- Two Princeton goals right out of halftime -- Morrisroe and Dora scored in the first 2:03 of the third quarter -- built Princeton's lead back up to eight.
- The Scarlet Knights twice scored two in a row, but could never put together a true run the rest of the way to put Princeton's lead in any real danger.
