Softball Team Rolls Past Binghamton in Series Finale

Princeton scored 12 runs across the third and fourth innings, including a nine-run fourth, to pull away for a 13–3 victory over Binghamton Sunday at Cynthia Lynn Paul '94 Field.
The Tigers improved to 9-8 on the season with the win while Binghamton fell to 5-16, with Princeton putting up 20 runs over the final two games of the series against the America East's preseason pick to win the league.
Princeton opened the scoring in the second inning when Mia Valenzuela singled and later came home on a run-scoring double by Jessica Phelps to give the Tigers a 1–0 lead.
The Tigers added three runs in the third. Sonia Zhang singled to start the inning and Julia Dumais followed with an RBI double down the right-field line. Karis Ford and Maddie Ratcheson each drove in runs to extend the lead to 4–0.
Princeton broke the game open in the fourth inning with a nine-run outburst. Zhang, Dumais and Valenzuela each drove in runs during the frame while Phelps delivered a two-run single and Zhang capped the rally with an RBI triple to center.
Zhang finished the game 3-for-4 with two runs scored and two RBIs, while Dumais went 2-for-2 with two runs scored and two RBIs. Phelps added three hits and three RBIs for the Tigers.
In the circle, Reece Uehara earned the win after taking a shutout in the fifth and allowing three runs on seven hits across 4 1/3 innings. Brielle Wright closed the game with two-thirds of an inning of scoreless relief.
Princeton will return to action Wednesday when the Tigers host Rider for a doubleheader before opening Ivy League play Saturday hosting Cornell.
