Sweeping the team's Ivy League-opening doubleheader from Cornell at Cynthia Lynn Paul '94 Field on Saturday, the Princeton softball team took game one, 6–4, before rolling to a 16–0 run-rule victory in the nightcap.

In the opener, Princeton set the tone early, plating four runs in the bottom of the first and never trailing the rest of the way.

Cornell responded with a run in the second and three in the third to tie it, Karis Ford blasted a solo home run in the bottom of the third to put the Tigers back in front before Mia Valenzuela doubled home a run in the fifth to make it 6-4. Along with a two-run single in the first inning, Valenzuela finished with a team-best three RBI in the opener.

In the circle, Cassidy Shaw went the first 5 2/3 innings before handing it off to Keala Hollenkamp for the finish and the save.

Saturday's second game saw the Tigers put up nine runs in the first inning on the way to a 16-0, run-rule win.

Sonia Zhang and Valenzuela each drove in four runs in game two while Maddie Ratcheson added three RBI, with Valenzuela leading the team with three hits in the nightcap to complete a day in which the rookie went 5 for 7 with seven RBI.

Princeton had 11 hits in game two and drew 10 walks on the way to the 16 runs.

The teams will wrap the Tigers' Ivy-opening series Sunday with a single game at 12:30 p.m. back at Cynthia Paul Field.
