March 05, 2026 | Wrestling
PRINCETON, N.J. – Ty Whalen was named to the Second Team All-Ivy and three Tigers were named All-Ivy Honorable Mentions as the league announced its conference awards Thursday.
Joining Whalen as All-Ivy selections are Marc-Anthony McGowan, Eligh Rivera and Holden Garcia, who all earned Honorable Mention distinction.
Whalen, at 165, went 4-1 in Ivy duals this season, picking up a tech fall and two majors along the way. His only conference loss was a close decision to #31 Cesar Alvan, 4-2.
Whalen has gone 19-6 on the year, earning four ranked wins and a third-place finish at the Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational in December.
McGowan has gone 13-6 on the year so far at 125, earning a win over #24 Ayden Smith (Rutgers) while going toe-to-toe with #5 Sheldon Seymour (Lehigh) as he dropped a 2-0 decision after his late winning takedown was overturned. In the Ivy League, McGowan earned wins over Brady Pruett from Penn and Greg Diakhomihalis of Cornell.
Rivera posts a record of 11-7 on the season and 3-2 in league duals, with three decision victories over opponents from Columbia, Harvard and Brown. At Cliff Keen in December, Rivera earned silver at 149 after taking down #3 Lachlan MacNeil and #4 Jacob Frost in the quarter- and semifinals.
Garcia has been hot since jumping into the lineup in January at 174, posting a record of 18-8 on the year while going 3-2 in Ivy duals. Continuing to build momentum going into March, Garcia ended the dual season with a win over #17 Lenny Pinto of Rutgers. He also took the 174 title at the Patriot Last Chance Open on Feb. 22, now having won nine of his last 11 matches going back to Jan. 18.
After earning the conference accolades, these four Tigers will next look to the Ivy League Tournament on Sunday in New York City, where they will compete for Ivy medals and ticket punches to nationals. The action will begin at 10 a.m. in Levien Gymnasium.
