Princeton Baseball Falls 7-6 To Yale In Series Opener

PRINCETON, N.J. - Despite a strong offensive showing, Princeton baseball falls 7-6 in their series opener against Yale.
Princeton struck first with a two-run homer from Tomas Cernius to take an early 2–0 lead in the first inning.
Yale responded with a pair of runs across the third and fourth innings to even things at 2–2.
In the fifth inning, Grant Weredesheim sparked the offense with a bunt, and Isaac Lamson reached on an error to set up two runs for the Tigers, regaining the lead at 4–2. Cernius followed with an RBI to push the advantage to 5–2.
The Bulldogs continued to put up five runs in the sixth, taking a 7-5 lead.
Princeton chipped away at the deficit in the seventh when Lamson drove in Jake Kernodle on a groundout, making it 7–6.
Elliott Eaton started on the mound for the Tigers. In his first start of the season, Eaton allowed five runs on seven hits, while striking out four.
Princeton wraps up the series tomorrow in a doubleheader against Yale with first pitch scheduled for 11:30 a.m., followed by the second game at 2 p.m.
