Dina Rizzo is in her ninth year on the Princeton staff and fifth as the associate head coach. Princeton has won three Ivy League championships in that time and reached five NCAA tournaments, with three Final Fours and one championship game appearance.
Rizzo made her way to Princeton after spending six seasons as the associate head coach at Maryland. During her time with the Terrapins, Rizzo helped the team to back-to-back national championships (2010-11), four Final Four appearances, two ACC titles and two straight Big Ten regular season titles (2014-15). Maryland most recently won the 2015 Big Ten Tournament and lost to Princeton in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.
Rizzo also spent time at the University of Massachusetts as an assistant coach, helping the Minutewomen to a top ten ranking in the NFCHA poll, the highest ranking for the team in nine years. She also accrued time in the Ivy League with a year as an assistant at Harvard in 2009.
Rizzo played for seven years on the United States national field hockey team, earning 157 international caps. She played in the 2008 Beijing Olympics, two Olympic qualifying events, the 2006 World Cup and 2003 Pan American Games. She later was named to the USA Field Hockey Hall of Fame in 2016.
Rizzo graduated from Maryland with a bachelor’s degree in communications.
