Postma is in his first official season as a graduate assistant with the men's heavyweight rowing team.
The 2020 campaign was cancelled due to the Coronavirus pandemic.
Postma's rowing experience includes being a coxswain for six years with the D.S.R.V. Laga (Delft Student Rowing Club, Delftsche Studenten Roei Vereeniging). He started with the openweight women's squad before shifting to the heavyweight men. He also coxed the Dutch's men's eight boat at the U-23 World Championships in Linz (2013) and Varese (2014). Postma was on the founding committee of the Damen Raceroei Regatta and spent time as the regatta manager as well.
Postma received his Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees at Delft University of Technology in the Netherlands.
