Olympic gold medalist English Gardner has joined the Princeton men's track & field coaching staff as a volunteer assistant for the 2018-19 season.
"We are thrilled to have someone of English's caliber on our coaching staff," Princeton head coach Fred Samara said. "Her goals and expectations are in line with our program's standards and we're excited for our student-athletes to learn from her."
Princeton now has three Olympians on the coaching staff, with Samara and Robby Andrews.
Gardner won a gold medal as a member of United Stats 4x100 relay team at the 2016 Rio Olympics. Individually, she was seventh in the 100 meters. A two-time USA Champion, Gardner has competed in two World Championships. In 2013 she was fourth in the 100 and was the silver medalist with the US 4x100 meter relay. Two years later in 2015 she repeated as silver medalist in the relay while also reaching the semifinals of the 100.
A native of Willingboro, N.J., Gardner ranks sixth all-time in the 100 meters with a 10.74.
A 2013 graduate of the University of Oregon, Gardner is a five-time NCAA champion winning two 100 meter titles, two 4x400 meter titles and an indoor 60 meter title. She turned pro after her junior year at Oregon.
