J.J. Ryu played in 25 games and had four assists for Princeton as a junior. Ryu notched assists in games against Villanova, Wagner and George Washington. She was named to the AWPCA All-Academic team for the third consecutive season.
Ryu chipped in four goals as a sophomore and added three assists and 10 steals. She scored in wins over Salem International, Redlands and Maryland twice. As a freshman, she finished the year with six goals, seven assists and 11 steals. She first played water polo on a UC Santa Barbara club team eight years ago.
In high school, she was named MVP of the Frontier League in 2002 and 2003, first-team all-league in 2001, second-team all-league in 2000 and third-team All-CIF in 2003. Ryu was a team captain from 2001-2003 and a member of the Paradise club team and that won the Under-18 national championship at the 2003 Junior Olympics.
