Helen Meigs was one of the Princeton women's water polo team's three captains for the 2010 season. She completed her career at Princeton as the all-time assists leader with 206, more than double the player in second place, and holds the four top single-season assist totals. She also ranks ninth in career goals with 115. Meigs was a second-team All-Southern choice in 2010 as she contributed 31 goals and a team-high 45 assists, marking her fourth-straight year of leading Princeton in that category. Meigs scored three goals on three occasions during the season, posting hat tricks in wins over Colorado State and Brown during the Princeton Invitational and against Hartwick in the third-place game at Easterns. Meigs recorded a total of nine multiple-goal games during the season. She also recorded assists in 24 of the 30 games, notching a high of four in the wins over Colorado State and Brown. She also added three in wins over UC San Diego and Sonoma State, and a loss to Hartwick.
Meigs earned All-Southern honors for the first time in her collegiate career as a junior when she received a first-team nod. Meigs' 37 goals ranked second on the team in scoring and her 65 assists were 45 more than the second-place player. It also set a Princeton single-season record for assists in a year, breaking the previous record of 52 she set as a sophomore. Meigs recorded goals in 19 games and assists in 28 during the season and had at least one or the other in every game she played and had both in 14 games. Meigs had 11 multiple-goal games, reaching four goals on three occasions, in wins over Marist, Harvard and Bucknell. Meigs equalled Carolina Ardila's single-game assist record when she had seven assists in a loss to Maryland. She also had two five-assist games, in wins over Whittier and George Washington.
Meigs scored 22 goals and added 52 assists during her sophomore season. The 52 assist mark broke the Princeton single-season record she set as a freshman and helped her to the top of the career assists record as just a sophomore. Meigs had three three-goal games during the season, including a win over Harvard in which she scored thee goals and had a season-high five assists. She had four assists in wins over Wagner and George Washington.
Meigs was one of Princeton’s most consistent players as a freshman, posting at least a goal or an assist in 26 of the team’s 29 games. She scored 25 goals and recorded 44 assists. Meigs started the season with a seven-game goal scoring streak and a 15-game point streak. She scored three goals in the Eastern title game against Hartwick and had four assists in a win over Maryland.
Meigs earned seven varsity letters while at The Bishop’s School, including four in water polo. She was a member of league championship teams as a junior and senior and was a team captain as a senior. Meigs scored 41 goals and had 111 assists as a senior, and was award the Bishop’s School’s Sportsmanship Cup and was a first-team All-CIF, all-section and all-league honoree. She also was a first-team All-Academic selection. She also played for the San Diego Shores club team and medaled at the Junior Olympics in 2003 (gold), 2004 (bronze) and 2006 (silver). She was a Junior Olympic first-team All-America in 2006.
